Day 6. 15/9/11: Ramco Point to Ramco Point
Aiming for a 15 km run along the river on our right this morning, we got a bit hemmed in by the lagoon on our left. We found a route through to the cliffs next to the river and scrambled up to see what we could see at the top. We found someone's hide-out - a small cave in the cliff with a curtain on one side and small stone wall on the other.
Lily felt like she was in the badlands. It was all rock face and cactus. Tim created a minor landslide but Lily leapt gazelle-like, avoiding on-coming rocks with grace. We scrambled up the cliff and discovered civilisation. Amazing what you'll find at the top of a hill sometimes. We ran along a track next to the road for a while, then along the road into Ramco (incidentally where her old (as in previous, not ancient) boss, Wal, went to primary school). Then a bit more dirt track for good measure and back to camp.
Tim went for a paddle after breakfast and Lily did some good study. We decided quite early to stay another night at Ramco Point and this was a fantastic decision. Lily managed to get slightly ahead on work and we were just able to relax and have a few of those moments where we both thought - "Wow, how lucky am I?" Swinging in the hammock, watching the water, feeling fit and healthy. Doing yoga in the sunshine by a river. And Lily still rubbing her head on anything she can find, and settling into life as a hot punk cool peaceful travelling happy person. It's lovely to see, so I hope everyone looking at the photos can get that it's not a statement haircut: it's just cutting off all the statements and just hanging out and being herself more and more. It's cool. Yay for that. (I may have to grow my hair to have the same effect, except I look like Krusty the Clown meets Doc from Back to the Future in a battle with some steel wool when I grow my hair, so I don't think that's got much promise, really.)
Yummy Laksa for dinner, then bed: stars out: tomorrow should be another beautiful day. It's lovely to be warm.
